The  mission of Deep Wild: Writing from the Backcountry is to provide a forum for the best writing we can find that conjures the experiences, observations, and insights of backcountry journeys; away from paved roads, a day’s journey or more, by foot, skis, snowshoes, kayak, horse, or any other non-motorized means.

Deep Wild seeks to encourage journeys in our shared world while inspiring adventures of reflection and imagination. With this in mind our print editions are sized to be portable and easily packable and made to be durable and visually intriguing.  Deep Wild: Writing from the Backcountry is printed on beautiful Speckletone paper that is 100% recycled and acid-free.
