Up on Hurricane Pass in the Tetons last week, my “high point” of the summer (10,338 ft). I dd not carry Deep Wild with me—because of course I have it all in my head (but I did have another “deep” book at hand—Laurence Gonzales’ Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies and Why.) I did, however, carry the word of it with me—note the Deep Wild water bottle sticker. I gave some of those away to like-minded hikers.
