Big time congratulations to Ken Craft, whose exquisite poem, “The Pause Between,” published in the 2023 issue of Deep Wild: Writing from the Backcountry, was selected for a Pushcart Prize. The poem will be reprinted in Pushcart Prize XLIX: Best of the Small Presses (2025 edition), to be published this Fall.

You don’t have to wait until then to read it, however. You can find the poem on page 70 of the online archive of Deep Wild 2023. A handful of hard copies are also still available here.

Maine poet Ken Craft ‘s work has appeared in The Writer’s Almanac, Pedestal Magazine, Gray’s Sporting Journal, and numerous other journals and e-zines. He is the author of three collections of poetry, most recently Reincarnation & Other Stimulants (2021).

A shout-out also to Deep Wild Journal‘s poetry editor Heidi Blankenship, who selected Ken’s poem for publication and nominated it for the Pushcart Prize.
